MSA Hip-Air Breathing Apparatus

The Hip-Air provides respiratory protection for personnel who must work in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life or health, such as those who work with oil drills and the manufacturing and handling of certain chemicals. When connected to a respirable air source, this device permits the wearer to work and move about freely within the limits of the hose lengths. It is also equipped with a small, five-minute air cylinder which enables the wearer to escape from the dangerous environment should the primarily air supply be interrupted.

The system consists of a medium black rubber Ultravue facepiece with speaking diaphragm, a lightweight padded shoulder harness, waist belt with hip pad, egress air cylinder, two-inlet manifold, regulator, aluminum Foster socket assembly and carrying case. All this and the unit weighs just 11 pounds.!
